Fushimi Inari, Southern Kyoto

To get to Kyoto from Shinsaibashi, Osaka I took the Midosuji Line to Yodoyobashi and then transferred to Keihan Line and went down on my first stop which was the Fushimi Inari Shrine.

Surreal ... 2 hours of endless Torii gates

Carry this rock, if you find it light you will get your wish. I couldn't even lift it!

From the Fushimi Inari train station, it was a 10 minute walk to the entrance. The station is an open station with no building and you have to cross the train track on the way to Fushimi. I was there at 7:30am and the scarcity of people made the place heavenly.

Walking through the countless torii gates that line the 2 hour hiking trail was a dreamlike experience. The wooden orange gates are perfectly lined and have Japanese writings on them. This is one of my top 3 temples.
