Pedia with a Bad Hair Day

I brought my kids to the Pedia last Saturday.  Since our complaint is just the usual cough and colds, I thought I would just use my health card to save up on doctor's fees.  Sayang di ba 3 of them eh di P1,500 din yon:-)

I guess that is the catch with health card doctors,  they are like a box of chocolates,  you know never know what you are gonna get.

So,  our usual go to pedia for our health card had 30 people ahead of us! OMG!  baka lalo sila mag-ka-sakit sa pila!  So I looked for another pedia that is accredited with our health card.  Oh si Dr. X,  she is good.  And the line is not too long, just 4 people ahead of us!  Game!

When we got to her office,  impressive and sosyal!  Big area with toys for the kids.  Well stocked magazine rack for the parents.  Her office inside is equally impressive.  The office was nicely designed with modern art deco for kids.  Unfortunately,  the experience stops there.

She didn't interact at all with the kids.  Upon entering her office,  she gave the kids and I a weak, forced smile with no teeth and asked "How can I help?" The usual ma-chika me was taken aback.  Normally, with all the pedia's we go to they do some light talk with the kids before they proceed. Not even, a hello?!?  My 3 year old tried to make some small talk with her, "Is she a doctor?," No reply, still.

She just proceeded with putting the stethoscope on their backs and declared it's clear.  She didn't even check their throats and the lymph nodes on the sides of their neck (my pedia does this standard check) if it were swollen. For the kid's prescription she fiddled on her nice laptop for awhile and came up with a couple of over-the-counter medications.  My usual pedia,  will go one step further than the prescriptions and give me reminders of avoiding chocolates which would further aggravate the cough and so on and so forth.  She maybe having a bad hair day, but I vowed never to return to her again.

Sharing with you tomorrow a list of signs of a good pediatrician.

How about you?  Did you ever have a bad pedia experience?
