Mind Museum at Taguig: Areas you Shouldn’t Miss

World Class Science Museum.  That is how I would describe the new Mind Museum in Fort Bonifacio.  The architecture inside and outside is modern, impressive and the displays are stunning!

Must Not Miss Areas:

Outdoor Science Playground -  kids can explore mechanical objects, go inside a bubble or try to get the vision of a snake through a special lens among others.  Expect to spend around 20-30 minutes here. You can choose to spend time here before or after your time slot.  Time spent here is exclusive of the 3-hour slot.

Tip #1:  The entrance to the main museum works on a 3-hour time slot. Don't worry,  unless you intend to read each and every write-up the slot is just enough. Scroll below for complete schedule.

Outdoor Science Playground

Lift the hoop and be inside a huge bubble! If it doesn't work, call attention of staff so they can add bubbles:-)

Look through the eye of a snake and check out how it sees things ...

T-Rex Exhibit - kids and kids at heart will be amazed with this larger than life T-rex cast from real life fossils.  The kids enjoyed digging for dinosaur bones under the T-Rex exhibit.

Evolution of Man - everyone marveled at how our pre-historic ancestors looked and lived thousands of years ago.

Tip #2:   A lot of people missed the computer behind the evolution area where you can have your photo taken and your image as an ape man will appear.  The kids got a kick out of it:-)

Inset is the ape version I mentioned:-)

Static Ball - touch theVan de Graff static ball and experience your hair stand up from end to end!

"Birthplace" Movie - Catch the 12 minute silent movie of how the Earth was formed.  The movie was interesting and clear. Kids appreciated and understood how the Earth evolved into what it is today.

Tip #3:  Allocate about 20-30 minutes for this activity since you have to queue up for it.  You would sit on the clean, carpeted floor for this, ergo,  skip the mini-skirt:-)

Tip #4:   There is another movie at the Universe Gallery where you lie down and watch a movie about the skies and stars.   We ran out of tickets.  Apparently it is limited shows only and you have to get your ticket upon entering.

The life-size suspended whale shark, locally known as butanding is a beauty!

Shadow Box - Have your shadow temporarily freeze on these phosphorescent walls.  Too bad:-( I didn't see this area so borrowing a pic from well loved blogger, Anton Diaz of www.ourawesomeplanet.com.

Strike a pose and temporarily freeze your shadow in these phosphorescent walls.

Which part of the brain do you use to think?

Spinning Tunnel - cross over from Earth Gallery to Universe Gallery in this spinning tunnel.  The platform you stand on is steady but the wall rotates, ergo, hilo! (dizzy)

The entire second floor showcases different inventions and how it evolved to what it is today.  Example there is a printing press from the old and your kid could try rolling it to create the imprint.

There is a big area dedicated to cells which I think is not that interesting and could have been spent for other wonderful science matters that are more interactive.

Except for that,  I think every grade schooler should visit it! You not only learn but you swell with pride with this great Philippine masterpiece.

Filipino Architect Lor Calma and partners designed this futuristic look.

P.S. My most mind blowing Science Museum experience is at The Tech Museum in San Jose, CA.  If you are ever near that area do not miss it.  Click The Tech Musuem, San Jose for my full review.
